About Stacks Restaurant Burlingame
Our Story Since 1992
Our Story Since 1992
Let us introduce ourselves
Stacks Restaurant Burlingame began with a simple idea: serve great American comfort food made with quality ingredients, offer generous portions at a reasonable price, and welcome every guest with genuine, old-fashioned hospitality.
Since opening in Burlingame in 1992, Stacks has grown into a local breakfast and lunch tradition for families, friends, neighbors, business professionals, travelers, and generations of loyal guests.
More than three decades later, the original Burlingame restaurant continues to celebrate the values that inspired Stacks from the beginning—good food, friendly people, and a welcoming place where everyone can feel at home.
Where It All Began
In 1992, Stacks founder brought together two things he believed belonged at the same table: classic American comfort food and genuine hospitality.
The first Stacks Restaurant opened right here in Burlingame.
The idea wasn’t complicated. Serve familiar American breakfast and lunch favorites, prepare them with quality ingredients, make the portions satisfying, keep prices reasonable, and create an atmosphere where guests would want to return.
That philosophy became the foundation of Stacks.
Over the years, Stacks expanded to additional locations throughout the Bay Area. Today, the Burlingame restaurant remains the original Stacks location and flagship, continuing the tradition that began here in 1992.
While restaurants and food trends have changed considerably over the years, our approach has remained refreshingly simple: make good food, treat people well, and create an experience worth coming back for.
Recognition We’re Proud Of
Through the years, Stacks has been recognized by Bay Area publications, readers, and local communities for its breakfast, brunch, and classic American food.
Historical recognitions have included honors for:

These recognitions have come from publications and reader-choice programs including the San Francisco Chronicle, San Jose Mercury, Silicon Valley Community Newspapers, The Almanac Readers Choice, San Mateo Times, and others.
We’re grateful for every award, but the recognition that matters most happens every morning when a longtime customer walks through the door again—or when someone visiting Stacks for the first time decides they’ll be coming back.
